The Port of Algeciras Bay Authority participates in the FOCOMAR Project for cross-border cooperation between Spain and Portugal. The main objective of the project is to promote Maritime Trade for SMEs, strengthening cooperation between ports and companies, through:

  • Research and innovation in the logistics area of the value chain of companies.
  • The implementation of advanced services in the field of logistics and supply chain.
  • The promotion of maritime transport, port communities and the facilitation of the establishment of companies in port areas.

Its intervention area is made up of seven port areas in the Alentejo, Algarve and Andalusia regions, together with their corresponding areas of influence or hinterlands. The project consortium is made up of the following partners: Andalusian Council of Chambers (leader), Huelva Chamber of Commerce, Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce, Jerez de la Frontera Chamber of Commerce, Seville Chamber of Commerce, Cádiz Confederation of Entrepreneurs, Bahía de Cádiz Foundation for Economic Development (CEEI Bahía de Cádiz), Andalusian Agency for Innovation and Development - IDEA, Sines Tecnopolo, APS - Administração dos Portos de Sines e do Algarve, SA.

The FOCOMAR project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg V-A Spain-Portugal Program (POCTEP) 2014-2020.
